Hello lovelies! Today I want to tell you all about a wonderful friend I have. She's been making gorgeous jewellery for over a decade now, and she is a passionate goddess who creates for hours at a time and finds inspiration everywhere she goes. Her name is Maryanne, and My Beaded Designs is her big bundle of sparkly joy.

Maryanne's creativity centers all around sparkle, using Swarovski chatons. I've never seen a piece of hers that I DON'T absolutely love! Her most famous pieces are her paw necklaces, parts of the proceeds of which go directly to local causes Urban Cat Relief or Cuddly Cat Rescue. They are the necklaces that first drew me to her work.

Here are some more samples of her work and this isn't all she can do! Aren't they amazing??

She takes custom orders and even makes sweet jewellery for little girls! I tell you, her work is PERFECT for holiday gifts for all the ladies in your family (and yourself too!). Her jewellery makes me feel like a sparkly goddess every time I put it on.

This is my latest necklace from her and I think it's my favourite piece of jewellery yet.
WOohoo, thanks for reading, chickies! I hope you go check out Maryanne's work for yourself and maybe snag a little bling bling :)

I forgot to post my list of things to do to beat the blues. You can blame Cipralex fog for that one!! I'll post about that either tomorrow or Wednesday, so stay tuned!
Hello, lovelies! Oh my GOSH but I have been ignoring this blog and you all, and I am so sorry for it! I've been in an awful funk ever since my best friend in the world had to go home to England after spending an amazing two weeks with the hubby and I. I miss him so much! Hopefully sometime next year I'll have enough funds to travel to the UK to see him... now there's a goal for the 2014 Create Your Incredible Year!

Since I haven't done Lovely Things in a while, here we go! Today I'm featuring some AWESOME DIY holiday crafts that I've been shown and can't wait to try!

These are utterly fabulous. I'm going to make one to hang over our entranceway.

Cinnamon Christmas Stars

I'm a huge sucker for the current trend of galaxy print, and these are no exception. It's outer space in a ball! I'll be using plastic balls for this craft, since we have cats and need to be careful about having shatterproof ornaments.

Glitter Galaxy Ornaments

How adorable are these? I'll be collecting pinecones this weekend and painting them pastels, gold and silver to put all over the place!

Pine Cone Christmas Trees

This is such a neat idea and I'm going to make one in pink, gold and silver to match my pastel theme!

Christmas Card Wreath
These are so charming, and so easy!
Hello lovelies! I'm sorry this is a day late! Jonno (my best friend), Trevor, and I have been having tons of fun together since Jonno arrived from the UK last Sunday. I hate how fast the week has gone, though!

So here are my gratitudes this week!

- My best friend being here and making this one of the most enjoyable weeks I've ever had in my life. I SO wish he could stay here longer!

- Having a venti pumpkin spice latte on a SUPER chilly evening in Toronto.

- Snuggling under cozy blankets on cold nights when the furnace is pumping.

- My new laptop.

- The people in my life who dearly love me. They make me feel so amazing and radiant.

- Finding my rainbow moonstone ring that I lost back in July! Thanks for discovering it, dear hubby!

- Completing crochet projects, and at the same time learning new techniques that I'd previously been too <s>lazy</s> challenged to try.

- Finishing my costume for Hallowe'en!

What are your gratitudes this week, goddesses?

Love and light,
You may have heard some people griping about this, whether in passing or online.

A few times a year, Mercury goes into retrograde, and that seems to be a dreaded houseguest in mine and my family's households. This houseguest barges in uninvited, puts rings on the coffee table, eats all our food, sleeps all day on our couches, and hogs the bathroom. They leave abruptly with a big mess behind them, and while we have to clean it up, we're better equipped to deal with them next time!

All of the planets' movements affect us in different ways. They all go into retrograde, but Mercury seems to impact people so much more than any of the others. Even folks who don't believe in astrology notice the crazy effects of a retrograde!

Mercury is retrograde from October 21st to November 10th this year.

So what happens during a retrograde?
I don't know about you, but during a retrograde things tend to turn a little chaotic in my life. I feel more irritable, more prone to depression and severe bouts of anxiety, and I just don't want to see or deal with anyone. I kind of turn into a hermit during this time.

You personally might find yourself confused, feeling cloudy in the head and frustrated, being super cranky or being on the receiving end of someone who's super cranky! Your computer and other devices are more likely to go goofy on you. A Mercury retrograde can be a total kick in the ass to some people, and it usually is to my family and I.
However, there's good in a Mercury retrograde as well. It's a good time to step back and re-examine areas in your life that might need work. Lovely new perspectives are revealed, and we can reach AWESOME breakthroughs! It's a great time to tie up loose ends, too. Finish that project you've been working on for ages!

I've got a list of ten great ways to cope with a retrograde, all from personal experience!

10 Ways to Deal with Mercury Retrograde

1. Back up your data! You ought to be doing this fairly frequently as it is, but if you've been procrastinating, now's the time to do it.

2. Finish projects you started a while ago but haven't had the inspiration to finish. Write that book! Finish your beautiful knitted sweater! Write that letter or email you've been meaning to send! Join that e-course! Paint a piece of furniture!

3. Get together with old friends or family you haven't connected with in a while. Reminisce, bond, and laugh lots! Listen to stories. Tell your own. Share fun memories! Remember loved ones who are no longer physically with us.

4. Be very wary when purchasing big items such as a car, iPhone, or that lovely new laptop you've been eyeing. Make sure you triple-check everything and get a warranty!

5. Take things with a grain of salt. People might be a bit more edgy, confused, or just plain meaner than usual if they're affected by a retrograde. Don't take stuff personally!

6. A retrograde can cloud your mind, making you feel uncertain or confused. Enjoy some mind-clearing tea (I love anything that has ginseng in it! Tetley makes a lovely blueberry-gingseng tea) that not only tastes yummy, but relaxes you too! This is an opportunity for you to embrace yourself and take it easy in whatever way you can.

7. Read the small print on contracts and other important paperwork. Double-check any information you're given, such as reservations, baggage allowances, and times.

8. Now is a wonderful time to accept, forgive, and forget. Retrogrades encourage us to tie up loose ends, and releasing old bitterness towards someone is a huge relief. Take a deep breath... gulp it in... meditate... write an angry letter and then burn it... you will feel loads better!

9. Step back and allow this retrograde to nudge you in a new direction. See what happens! What can you learn from this new situation?

10. Remember that like with many other things, you can easily slide through a retrograde if you're prepared for it. Go with the flow!

Love and light,

- Soft kitten paws hugging my legs.

- A home that's steadily getting nicer looking by the day as I deep-clean and declutter!

- Walking into Michaels and seeing all the holiday stuff up and smelling wondrous cinnamon and bayberry wafting through the store.

- Pumpkin spice Timbits. That is all.

- Having such a nice nature walk with my MIL yesterday.

- Getting happy mail yesterday!
Hello my goddesses! I hope all is well in your world. I'm preparing myself for the next Mercury Retrograde that starts on the 21st of this month and lasts through to November 10th. What can you do to prepare? Check back here next week when I share with you!

My MIL and I went on a lovely nature walk today. It was gorgeous, 19* Celcius, with a cloudless sky. We smelled the dry leaves, took lots of pictures, saw ducks and we saw landlocked Atlantic salmon swimming upstream. We ended the day at Tim Horton's with lattes and pumpkin spice Timbits (heavenly!). It was a perfect Wednesday and I'm going to show you!
I hope you've had a nice weekend. Mine was very grey and rainy, but full. My husband's family had a reunion yesterday, and most members were there except some who live in London and in Australia. It was good to see them on such a nice occasion, as last time we all met up it was for Trevor's great-aunt's funeral in 2011. Yesterday I had my cleaning job, then came home to rest and reflect on the week and write this blog post. I didn't get a chance to photograph my ancestral altar until this morning, however, so I apologize for the late posting!

Today I want to share with you my ancestral altar, which honours my mom and dad. Having an ancestral altar is a Samhain tradition that I brought into my life last year, and is now a yearly tradition. As the Veil thins between our world and the next, it's a very powerful spiritual act to create a sacred space for the dead. This tradition has most notably been observed in Mexico's Dia de los Muertos, however cultures around the world have created altars and shrines in their homes for their loved ones who have passed beyond the Veil.

You can create an ancestral altar without buying anything. You can be creative, or not. You can make it wonderfully elaborate, or not. Your ancestors all had hardships and struggles of their own, and they know what is in your heart as you honour them. They don't care what you can or can't afford for the altar. Your intention is all that matters.

Any place that won't be disturbed makes a good place for an altar. The top of a bookshelf, a corner, or a small table would do. You want your altar to be in a dedicated space where it will be respected. You can place your altar at the beginning of October and let it stay up for a month, or you can place it for three days. It's up to you.

For offerings, you can represent the Elements. To do this, you can represent Earth by placing a little container of soil, or a stone or a small branch. For Water, leave a cup of water or tea. For Air, a feather will do nicely. For Fire, a small candle or incense will suffice (just remember to NOT leave it unattended!!!!).

In Mexico, you will often see bright, beautiful marigolds used to decorate altars and cemetaries. They are symbolic of the sweetness of life. Buy a little pot of marigolds and place on your altar, or make your own from fabric or paper!

What is considered most essential for an ancestral altar is a skull or skeleton. Sugar skull figures are perfect for this. As a matter of fact, I want to paint the skull on the altar to be a sugar skull. However, this is your altar to honour your loved ones the way you want to, and you can place whatever feels right to you or what you're drawn to.

If you feel drawn to, place some things your ancestors loved! My dad loved to watch baseball (he was a big Yankees fan), so there's a baseball on my altar. There is red thread because my mom was into all kinds of crafts and her favourite colour was red. You can put photos of your ancestors, or even just a bit of fancy paper with their names and dates of birth and death if you don't have any photos of them. Decorate your altar with leaves, pumpkins, acorns, and other symbols of the changing seasons.

So what do you do once you have created your ancestral altar?

Sit. Meditate. Pray.

Give thanks.

Talk to your ancestors. Tell them how much you miss them. Talk to them about your memories, the good times, your hopes and dreams and what's troubling you. They will hear you because they love you!

If you need to, ask them their forgiveness.

Do oracle readings and ask your ancestors for guidance. They will provide it.

Above all, honour and love the memory of your loved ones who have gone before you. They have helped to create the gorgeous person you are now! They are still with you, even from beyond the Veil. Reflect on all they have done to enrich your life. And when it is done, thank them for coming to visit. Wish them well.

Same time next year, Mom and Dad.

Love and light,
Hello lovelies! Here are my gratitudes for this week!

- Learning more at my dear friends' pool. Putting my face and head underwater was something that scared the crap out of me for my entire life, and I did it! I practiced for much of the time we were there. I think this will go a LONG way in me learning to swim.

- The pool taking away the dull, constant pain in my left sacroiliac joint.

- Trevor's schedule changing so that he's off on Tuesdays. It's nice to have him home during the week! His work is slowly teaching him how to become assistant manager :)

- Finding gorgeous autumn decorations on clearance at Canadian Tire. All their Christmas stuff is up already, eek!!

- Being completely and unconditionally loved and treated like a goddess.

- One of our fluffy tabby foster kittens LOVES to get up on my shoulder and chest and rub her little face on mine. It's the sweetest thing and I love it so much! Maybe not SO much when she does it when I'm trying to eat, but still!

- 16 sleeps until my best friend arrives!!!! I can barely contain my excitement any more! EEEEEE!

- Buying super-fun crochet books. I don't usually purchase crafting books for myself, but I can't wait until Stitch 'n Bitch Crochet and Twinkie-Chan's Crochet Goodies for Fashion Foodies get here!

- My stretch marks are fading. I guess that means I'm doing something right! ;)

- It's October, my most favourite month of the year.

What are you thankful for this week? Share your list here! :)

I Love October by D. Sharon Pruitt

This is my favourite month out of the twelve. There's fall fairs, our cat rescue's big yard sale where we make lots of money to pay our rising vet bills, Thanksgiving, the Toronto Zombie Walk, and of course Hallowe'en. And anything in-between! This year, October is even better with my best friend flying in on the 20th.

My altar is decorated for autumn and Samhain. It's a bit cluttered still, but I feel everything on it is supposed to be there.

We have everything from my sweet bag of crystals, to my Rumi oracle deck, to my mini book of shadows, to my Samhain mini besom that I won in last year's Samhain Sirens giveaways, to my goddess spirit doll that my mother made me, to elemental representations and even a dream catcher hanging just out of sight. I'd like to hang some prayer flags above the dream catcher. I want to add a nice box to store my incense, something with a sacred triquetra, a decorated athame, and a little mortar & pestle (Kensington Market has all but the athame!). I'd also like various bird feathers and an abalone shell to conduct smudging with. I absolutely love my altar!

I'm working on a small ancestral altar that will honour my adoptive parents through the Samhain season. My dad passed in December 2009, and my mom in late November of last year. I will likely post an entry about it, along with lots of info on making your own ancestral altar, on Friday.

I'm also about to start working on some adorable cross-stitch patterns to hang on the wall this month. I just have to get to Michaels to get the floss and Aida cloth!

- Getting my FIRST callback for an interview, and the position is at Trevor's work! I'm nervous as heck, but really, really excited.

- Beating insomnia, at least for one night, and getting a full night's sleep!

- Getting to enjoy the Thornhill Festival last weekend, despite the gloominess and rain, and putting on warm pjs and making chili when we got home.

- Beautiful fall colours gracing neighbourhood trees.

- Finding the first piece for my Hallowe'en outfit/FrostCon cosplay at Value Village. Wooohoo!

- Finding AWESOME tie-dye pants at Value Village! I'd been wanting these pants from Hip Mountain Mama, and the ones I found are similar in colour and are just so darn pretty! They're also the most comfortable things in the world.

- Hearing from my dear Alora yesterday and setting up yet another weekend of fun. Because I was busy last weekend, I didn't get to spend time with the girls, and I've sorely missed it. I'm so excited to see them again and get up to our usual shenanigans.

- Getting a commission from my dear friend Catherine, who is a writer. I get to draw one of her characters, which is something I love to do.

- Having dinner with Trevor and my MIL, Elisa, last night. We used to meet up at the mall every week to have dinner together, then we'd putter around the shops and walk home. I've really missed it, so this was wonderful. We had Thai, I got some autumn decorations for my altar, bought a pumpkin spice latte, and we walked home as the sun set and popped by the Italian bakery to buy a lovely apple cheese strudel. It was such a nice evening!

Love and light,

Hello friends! It's time for another Lovely Things post to brighten your Monday. This past weekend was fab, full of rain and resting and making my first big pot of chili of the season. Saturday was the Thornhill Village Festival, something I greatly look forward to every year. Our cat rescue group, Urban Cat Relief, always has a booth there and we go help out before walking around the festival. There's always great food, live music, colonial battle re-enactments, a parade, awesome vendors and crafters, and yard sales in the beautiful historic village. Autumn colours are just starting to pop out, too, so it makes for a very pretty backdrop!

It was pouring rain all day though, so UCR ended up packing it in early and going home, mostly because our tent wasn't waterproof and everything (including us) got very wet. Trevor and I had a blast though, buying yummy food and finding some really great things.

The library always has a big book sale during the festival, but because of the rain I was worried they weren't going to have it. No worries though, they just held it indoors this time! They had a deal where you could fill a bag for $5, and that is exactly what I did. I don't even know where to put all these books, LOL!

I'd been wanting a cute patchwork purse for eons now, and these really neat vendors two booths down were selling them for a price I just couldn't pass up. And I'm glad I didn't! I love it so much!

I got these beautiful nesting dolls from a Belarus-based monastery that had been to the festival before and liked it so much that they just had to come back. I have a big soft spot for nesting dolls, which brings us to the subject of this week's Lovely Things!

Nesting dolls, or matryoshkas!

I'm not sure where my fascination with them began, but I'm such a sucker for anything themed with them.

Here's what they look like! (Download files are below)

Happy Monday, everyone! It's time for lovely things again to brighten your (and my) evening. Sorry I'm so late in the day!

I had a very busy and wonderful weekend. On Saturday I spent time with my girls Liat and Alora again, fasting with them until we went to Liat's mom's place that evening to break for a fantabulous Yom Kippur dinner. We laughed so much, enjoyed the night breeze, and feasted on gefilte fish, challah, watermelon & feta, homemade chicken soup, salads, and more. I am so blessed to have been part of that dinner with my three lovely ladies. Alora, Liat and I went back to their place later and spent the night drawing. I'm so happy to say I've got lots of inspiration right now and can't wait to share it with you! On Sunday I went with a friend I hadn't seen in a while to see Fallout Boy at Echo Beach. Dancing + singing along in the rain and sand was so much fun, even if we did freeze our butts off!

This week I'm sharing some wrist warmers I've found on Etsy. I love wrist/hand warmers SO SO SO much!!! It's one of my favourite things about fall and winter. Once cool weather arrives, on they go, and I'm always looking for new ones. These are ones I've favourited this past week and dream of owning.
- Finding swim separates on clearance for $3 and $5!
- Finally... maybe... possibly... having learnt to actually swim. Or at least getting there more quickly.
- Trevor applying for assistant manager at his store and getting uber-appreciation from his uppers! :)
- Finishing projects that have been sitting in the dust for ages. Yep yep.
- Britcoms. Love them so much!
- Seeing my little savings jar for Anime North slowly filling up.
- 37 sleeps until my best friend arrives from the UK! I'm so bloody excited!!! Ahhhh!!!
- Feeling so, so much better since my med increase. I know that I can't rely on any medication 100%, but it is providing me with intense relief from the feelings I could no longer fight with CBT.
- With the help of a neighbour, we were able to capture two friendly kittens from outdoors and bring them in here. Thanks to our cat rescue, these two sweet boys will be getting neutered and having their first shots tomorrow, then they will soon be adopted.
- Getting my resume edited again and getting it out there to three more companies, including the one where Trevor works.

What has you grateful this week, lovelies?
Hello goddesses! I hope you've all had a great weekend and are going to have a lovely start to the week. I spent my weekend at my new cleaning job and then with my girls Liat + Alora, enjoying sloppy joes, pumpkin spice lattes, hours in the pool, and an all-night drawing jam. Those girls, along with my other best friend Jonno, are the shining gold in my life.

Jonno is coming to visit us next month! He lives in England, near Leicester. We've known each other for twelve years (we met at Active Worlds, the same 3D chat program where I met Trevor the same year!) and he's been my best friend for the latter half of that time. He's staying with us for two weeks and I'm starting to get ridiculously excited!! YEEHAW!!!

So last week's Lovely Things post was about those beautiful little things of summertime. Now that autumn is approaching like a freight train, today's Lovely Things is all about the awesome little things of fall!
We're on Day 29 of this challenge. Wow! I can't believe it's almost over. I've learned so much and have been so incredibly inspired! I'm looking forward to seeing what our dear Natalie Sisson comes up with next.

This is today's prompt:

"What does your blueprint for living the dream look like to you?"

Natalie gave us these three ideas to help us along with our answers to the prompt.

- What do you want in your life beyond all certainty?
- What’s a non-negotiable you are not prepared to give up for anything else?
- What don’t you mind forsaking in return for having more of something else?

Here I concisely answer these questions, thinking back to what I've written these past 28 days of the challenge as I do so.

What do I want in my life beyond all certainty?
My family, friends, health, freedom, and happiness in what I do. I want a complete lack of debt, too!

What's a non-negotiable I'm not prepared to give up for anything else?
All of the above.

What don't I mind forsaking in return for having more of something else?
Pointless material possessions (other than the things I mentioned recently, such as my art supplies and laptop!) and my crushing self-doubt and anxiety.

You are the only person who knows the perfect blueprint to your life. No life coach, nobody can truly know this for you. So what is my blueprint for living the dream life?

Keeping healthy, positive, close to friends and fellow goddesses, and knowing freedom. Feeling free means a lot of things, not just financially. Appreciating the little things, staying in touch with nature, and always being inspired and encouraged by others. Be determined. Listen more. Stay humble.

Love and light,
Hello again, lovelies! Since it's technically the end of summer for many people, I thought today's Lovely Things would focus on all the beautiful things we enjoy in the summertime.
Happy Labour Day, lovelies! I hope the start of your week is a pleasant one. I'm catching up on three days of the blog challenge!

Day 26's prompt...

"Could you live a minimalist lifestyle? Why or why not? OR What does minimalism mean to you in the context of your ideal lifestyle?"

In the context of my ideal lifestyle, having minimal belongings means NO CLUTTER and having only things that truly mean something to me. Things that can be easily packed and moved without worrying about a big truck or a storage room.

When I first came up here from Virginia, I had to leave 99% of my belongings behind. I arrived with my beads, my drawing materials, some clothing, and a few toiletries. Most of my belongings are still down there, but I've since acquired lots of books, clothes, toiletries, and craft-related things. Because I've lived without my junk for five years, I feel burdened by it, knowing I have to get it all up here at some point. It's hard for me to imagine that I have fourteen boxes of stuff. Before I had to go back to Virginia for those awful 18 months, I had even more than that but I managed to donate a great deal of it to Goodwill. And before I first visited Canada, I had gotten rid of even more.

How on earth had I managed to own that much stuff?

My mom kind of revolved around her belongings. When she was a kid and teenager, her army family was constantly moving, and she never got to keep anything she owned. So as an adult, she tightly grasped everything that came her way and wouldn't get rid of it, even when it stayed in boxes for 20 years and never saw the light of day. She wasn't at hoarder stage, but she just had lots of stuff. It was a pain in the butt to move, because we'd spend months packing and have to rent the largest Ryders or U-Hauls that were available.

It was a nuisance, a burden, a stressful waste of time.

Even now, as Trevor and I make plans to eventually move into our own little apartment, I'm still getting rid of things I don't feel attached to. Old clothes that don't fit me. Books I'll either never read or have read and didn't feel inspired by. Paper clutter and any knick-knacks that I'm not sentimental about. I'm using up my craft stuff instead of hoarding it away in the drawers here under my computer desk.

Day 27's prompt...
"What’s your best travel hacking story to date (where you scored a free upgrade, used miles or just got a bonus perk) OR Name 2 ways in which you’re going to become a savvy travel hacker in the next 6 months"

I've not travelled much, so I have zero hacking stories (which makes me even more pleasantly jealous of Matthew Bailey, adventure traveller and maximalist extraordinaire.

I think that I would save up lots of points on air miles programs, and seeking out awesome deals and upgrades online. Our only problems are our complete lack of travel experience, and our complete lack of substantial income. But nothing is impossible :)

Day 28's prompt...
"What travel tools and services are most important to you when taking your business abroad?"
Since nothing's up and running yet, I don't yet know what will be most important. I think email autoresponders, an accountability friend, perhaps a world clock displaying different time zones, and an external hard drive would all be a great start.

Stay tuned for Lovely Things a little later! :)

Before we get to the blog challenge, I want to announce that as of tomorrow (Saturday), I will be changing the name of this blog to better suit the direction it's heading in. Sweet Maple Life will be changing to Goddess Within. I will still be blogging about my life and all the cool stuff I come across, but there will be much more than just that :) I hope you all stick around for this new path of my journey!
Today's topic is about four key areas to master to truly enjoy being location independent. These key areas are:

- Productivity
- Staying healthy
- Keeping up with clients
- Keeping in touch with your network

"What skills do you need to build or refine to be a happy Suitcase Entrepreneur?"

What I will put into practice to master the key areas:

- Write in bulk and program it so it can be released while I'm away or focusing on other things.
- Exercise every single day, even if it's just for 10-20 minutes.
- Stay offline while working! This will dramatically increase my productivity.
- Be more realistic in the challenges and goals I give myself.

Keeping up with clients and networking doesn't really apply to me yet, as nothing's up and running. But for keeping up with folks, I find HootSuite to be a great social media platform where I can view everything at once and quickly contact people.

See you tomorrow as Goddess Within! I've got to get to making a banner and site button :)
Good evening, goddesses! It's that time of week again. Here are my gratitudes...

- Getting a little job cleaning a family friend's house. Some income's better than no income!
- Being well enough in my mental health to start seeing joy again.
- Being well enough in my anxiety to do more things on my own, including taking a taxi.
- Getting to swim with my friends again on the weekend. My body had been craving water immersion for a couple weeks, so when I got in that pool, I felt a joy like no other. It was like every cell of my body was singing!
- Receiving an unexpected little package from my biomom. It contained a lovely card showing the beauty of Bedford County, and some craft bits 'n bobs, and two delicately crocheted bookmarks for Elisa and me. It made my day!
- The weather heating back up as an end-of-summer hurrah.
- That my best friend will be flying over from England in 2-3 months' time!!! SO stoked!
- Having fun at the CNE, eating crazy food, laughing into the wind, and getting licked by a Holstein heifer.
- It's almost a long weekend for Trevor, so I get more of him! More late nights :)
- I'm finally starting to accept myself as I am. No more hate. Just pure love and encouragement.

What are you thankful for this week?

Love and light,
Hello lovelies! I hope you're having a good week in your corner of the galaxy. We went to the CNE (Canadian National Exhibition) last night and it was so much fun. I forgot my camera, so unfortunately there are no pics, but trust me when I say it's always my favourite part of the summer!

Here is Day 23's prompt...

"What’s your level of location independence and your nomadic quotient?"

In today’s post, Natalie outlined these three different “levels of location” for our consideration:

- For some just the ability to work from home or a café close by, on their own schedule, is the perfect form of freedom.

- For others they want just enough location independence to take off to a new country for a month or two each year, and still run their business or work remotely as an employee.

- Then there are people who love to change it up every one to three months in a new city or country and keep exploring but spend enough time to get a real feel for the culture, people and area.

I am definitely that second option. As I said the other day, I wouldn't dream of leaving Canada at this point in my life. My soul wants to be here. I'm a homebody and while I want the freedom to travel and to temporarily live elsewhere if we choose (such as New Zealand or Japan), I usually don't want to stray far from home.

Day 24's prompt:

"What are your travel essentials for your chosen destination(s) ?"

Natalie's Top Tip: You can answer this in two ways: either list out the actual physical packing list of your most essential items you couldn’t live without or you could focus on the destination, and the essential elements you’d want it to have (like history, sunshine, etc.)

For travelling, I would take my laptop, Kobo, iPod, sketchbooks and other art supplies, and obviously the super-important things like clothes and toiletries. A good pair of shoes, especially!

At my destination, I need culture, nature as well as city, good weather, good food, and good people. :) Festivals don't hurt, either!

Now we're in Phase 3 of the blog challenge, and here Natalie Sisson will be teaching us how to live homeless. That is, being able to live anywhere while doing your work!

"If you chose to live anywhere in the world, where would that be and why?"

I came to Canada for a reason, and it's the place where my soul has driven me for years. I don't intend on leaving any time soon, not permanently. My heart is gloriously happy here. I know that this is where I'm supposed to be in this stage of my life. If I get a calling to go elsewhere, then I will follow it. But for now, I thoroughly belong to Canada, body and soul. Maybe we would move to coastal British Columbia, or Nova Scotia, or just further away from Toronto. But I can't imagine myself ever leaving this country forever.

That being said, it would be wonderful to travel long-term without worrying about getting home to a job. I would love to make enough income to retire my husband from his job and take exciting vacations every six months to every year. That is true, gorgeous freedom to me.

In North America, I would like to see...
- See all of Canada's provinces and territories.
- Visit all 50 states.
- Spend time in California, British Columbia, Nova Scotia, and Colorado.

Overseas, I would like to visit or live temporarily in...
- The UK
- Ireland
- Japan
- Hong Kong
- Australia
- New Zealand
- Thailand
- Israel

So there are my travel dreams. Maybe one day, they will become succulent reality.

Love and light,
